The young aedile Gaius
Vestorius Priscus died at the age of 22 in 75 A.D.. The
municipality provided the land for the grave and 2,000
sesterces for the funeral service, which were administered
by his mother. The decorations painted inside the enclosure tell us of
the dead person: the young suggestum
issuing laws, the gate to hades, the gladiator games, and a marvellous
set of silverware that flaunts the wealth of his family.
