There are two access to the area of the ruins: Porta Marina and Piazza Anfiteatro.

The opening times are the following:

- from the 1^st of November to the 31^st of March: every day from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm (last entrance at 3.30 pm)

- from the 1^st of April to the 31^st of October: every day from 8.30 am to 7.30 pm (last entrance at 6.00 pm).

The ruins are closed on the 1^st of January, the 1^st of May and the 25^th of December.

The tickets have the following prices:

- single (1 site: Pompeii) - validity: 1 day

- full price: € 11,00

- reduced: € 5,50 for EU citizens aged 18 – 25  and teachers

- cumulative (5 sites: Pompeii, Ercolano, Oplonti, Stabia and Boscoreale) - validity: 3 days

- full price: € 20,00

- reduced: € 10,00 for EU citizens aged 18 – 25  and teachers

- free admission: for the EU citizens under 18 or over 65 (also for non – EU countries with reciprocal agreements)

For free and reduced tickets it is necessary identity card.

For the schools booking is necessary (access from Piazza Anfiteatro).

Next to Porta Marina it works an Information Bureau. The opening times are the following:

Main access routes:

- Circumvesuviana (line Napoli/Sorrento – Pompei Scavi station) or Trenitalia (line Napoli/Salerno - Pompei station);

- the bus lines SITA (Napoli/Salerno – stop at Pompei, piazza Esedra) or bus lines CSTP (bus n.4 SalernoFS/Pompei – stop at Villa dei Misteri);

- Autostrada A3 Napoli/Salerno (Pompei Scavi exit);  

- the Metrò del Mare on the MM3 line from Amalfi to Bacoli, with stop at the  harbour of Torre Annunziata and contining by Archeobus to the ruins;

- the nearest airport is that of Capodichino (Naples) that is 20 kms far from Pompeii. A bus service connect airport with Pompeii (from Neapolis Capodichino -  9.30 am, 3.45 pm, 7.30 pm; from Pompeii - 6.30 am, 1.00 pm, 5.00 pm) - € 3,62 (for information (only from Italy) Toll-free number 800 053939)
